Description:
Changing strings and cables is one of those skills every at-home bow mechanic should learn, but it’s also something you want to get right. Before touching the bow press, I like to measure axle-to-axle and brace height, mark my cam positions, and take pictures so I have references to get everything back to spec.

From there, it’s all about keeping track of your twists, routing the cables correctly, making sure the yokes and strings are seated in their tracks, and double-checking every connection before taking pressure off the bow. A few simple marks and reference points can save you a lot of trouble.

Take your time, know how to safely use your press, and always trace every string and cable before drawing the bow. Once you understand the process, replacing a set of strings and cables becomes a valuable skill to have in your bow mechanic toolbox.
