Upcoming Cultural and Community Events Across Los Angeles
The Los Angeles Department of Cultural Affairs has opened the 45th annual Black Doll Show, now on view through February 14, 2026. This year’s exhibition, titled Sower of Seeds: Creating a New Tomorrow, uses handmade and collected Black dolls to examine current challenges and consider how imagination and resilience can shape the future. The opening reception will take place on Saturday, December 13 at 3 PM at the William Grant Still Arts Center and will include live music and performances.

The Department of Recreation and Parks will host the Expo Center Winter Festival on Saturday, December 13 at Expo Park. Councilmember Curren Price and Rec and Parks staff will welcome families for a day of music, entertainment, games, community booths, sledding, and giveaways offered on a first-come, first-served basis. The event begins at 10 AM on Bill Robertson Lane.

The Venice Abbot Kinney Memorial Branch Library will mark the 250th birthday of author Jane Austen with a book discussion and tea party on Saturday, December 13 at 1 PM. The event will feature a community discussion of Pride and Prejudice and refreshments provided by the Friends of Venice Library.
