Description:
For music rights investors building data pipelines, two common approaches to ingestion are ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) and ELT (Extract, Load, Transform). The difference is where the processing happens.
Our CEO Tom Mullen explains how ETL can remove sensitive information before it reaches your data store, but risks optimising too early. ELT loads the raw data first and transforms it afterwards through views, materialised tables or functions, keeping the original data available for future use.
There’s no single right answer. You’ll most likely use both, as we do.
